The City of New York reached a settlement with the family of Eric Garner for a Sum of $5.9m



The death of Eric Garner 43-year-old African American raised protests around the country by people who showed dissatisfaction over police treatment of African Americans. A cell phone video showing the fatal encounter of Garner saying 'I can't breath' about 11 times while being held on the ground by an New York Police Department officer in a choke-hold. NYPD claimed he was being apprehended for illegally selling cigarettes when he passed on. The family say the settlement isn't victory!

NASS MEMBERS ABSURD SALARIES; THREATS BY MEND TO RESUME MILITANT ACTIVITIES

The  Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND)  is protesting over what they describes as “the absurd salaries” of National Assembly members. they threatened to resume its militant activities if nothing is done to resolve the present problem of None payment of salaries, pensions and other benefits.
